A match means your email address, and potentially an associated password, appeared in a breach of a third-party service you registered with, such as an online retailer or forum.

A match does not mean your current business systems have been compromised, but it does mean any password reused between that breached service and your business accounts should be treated as exposed.

• Change the password on any account still using the breached password, prioritising email and financial accounts.
• Never reuse the same password across multiple services — a password manager removes the temptation to do so.
• Enable multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered, so a breached password alone is not enough to gain access.
• If the breached address is a company email account, tell your IT provider so wider monitoring can be applied.
